I sold a Krug to my coin dealer Friday. He gave me 910. Spot was 943. I also sold an AGE for 925, which was a better deal. I then walked around the corner to the bank and didn't get the teller whose looks I am in love with, but I could still see her between the smudges on the 4" thick bullet proof Plexiglas.

Sounds too me you got ripped off. on APMEX they are buying GAE for $964.30 and Krugs for $935.

Why would Apmex pay $20 over spot for a coin? You have trouble getting that win you sell to an individual on CraigsList?

Exactly!!! :D

Unlike many in this forum I prefer to trade the larger swings since PM's are so volatile but I don't see us being anywhere near a major top at the moment.

Next time I sell, which will be in 2 weeks, that is how I will do it. Where I live all coin dealers want to purchase below spot. I wonder how they can compete with APMEX, unless everyone, like me apparently, is ignorant of APMEX prices?

I will hold my precious metal positions for about another eleven (11) years, adding on a yearly basis. The average citizen does not realize that the U.S. dollar, and dollar -denominated assets are not the store of wealth that they once were. I fully expect to see gold -- $2,500.00 and Silver -- $50.00, possibly higher, before this precious metals bull cycle comes to a close. You will then witness participation of the "average Joe" in the metals market. The tremendous one day upside moves that we have seen in platinum, we shall one day see in gold, +/- $75.00, and , on a percentage basis, in silver.

Gold and silver will triple from here during the next decade, as a consequence of widespread distrust in paper currencies.

Local Dealers provide immediate settlement and no shipping costs. Large internet dealers often pay more. I guess it boils down to convenience and the time value of money. Dealers are in a service industry. Customers determine the service they need.
